Electronic Assistive Technology North West
Assistive Technology Products can enable people with disabilities to accomplish daily living tasks, assist them in communication, education, work or recreation activities, in essence, help them achieve greater independence and enhance their quality of life.
Assistive Technology devices can help improve physical or mental functioning, overcome a disorder or impairment, help prevent the worsening of a condition, strengthen a physical or mental weakness, help improve a person's capacity to learn, or even replace a missing limb.
Advances over the past few years in the availability of electronic and computer based systems have been very advantageous to people with profound levels of disability.
The service supplies state of the art environmental control systems (ECS) to people so disabled that they are unable to manage normal domestic remote controls. Additionally it will look favourably on the provision of communication aids and computer based technology to people already using ECS. They have a budget of £1m plus. Fifty per cent is for equipment for users.
EAT NW accepts referrals from heath and social service personnel, from potential users and their carers. A Medical Assessor then visits in order to assess the potential user.
A referral form can be obtained by contacting:
