Stem Cell Therapies in MS - LIVE NOW!

From Monday 8 Februay to Sunday 14 February 2010, Prof Robin Franklin , Director of the UK MS Society Cambridge Centre for Myelin repair, and Director of the Neural Stem Cell programme at the MRC Cambridge Centre for Stem Cell biology and Regenerative Medicine, will answer questions related with stem cell therapies in MS.

This Q&A session follows from a video interview with Prof Franklin where he gives us an overview of potential stem cell therapies, explaining how these may work in MS. In this video he also explains the current situation in terms of research, and discusses current claims and aspects of safety and effectiveness. Rehabilitation and physiotherapy

From Monday 2 November and Sunday 8 November 2009, Dr Jennifer Freeman , lecturer at the University of Plymouth and research fellow at the Institute of Neurology, answered questions on rehabilitation, how to make the most of physiotherapy and exercise, and what types of exercise can help in the management of a various MS symptoms.

We have also filmed a video interview with Dr Freeman and you may want to watch this online awareness talk also.
Current and emerging therapies in MS

Dr Alasdair Coles, a neurologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, answered your questions on the subjects discussed in his recent Online Awareness Talk video .

Filmed in August 2009, Dr Coles gives an overview on four current or emerging therapies for MS: Tysabri, Cladribine, Fingolimod and Alemtuzumab. He also discusses the importance of expert advice in the decision making process and the licensing status, safety, effectiveness and convenience of use for each of the four drugs.
Living with the effects of MS

From Monday 9 March to Sunday 22 March, Dr Anita Rose, Clinical Psychologist at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust in Liverpool answered your questions online for one week about how a one can prepare for and manage the emotional impact of MS. You may wish to view our Living with the effects of MS film with Dr Rose before submitting your question.

This event is not just for those who have MS but it can also help families, friends, colleagues, health and social care professionals gain a greater understanding of the emotional impact caused by such a diagnosis.
