We offer a number of specialist courses and learning events for professionals working directly with people affected by MS.

Help with your course fees

We offer a limited number of grants to health and social care professionals who care for and support people affected by MS. We might be able to help if you have to pay all or part of the course fee yourself.

Each grant application is considered by an advisory board. Awards usually cover 50% of the course fees up to a maximum total of £1000.

Grants are only open to members of the MS Society's Professional Network and can cover up to half the fee for the following courses:

BSc Specialist Practice Module in Health and Social Care (Birmingham City University)
Neuro 4 Exercise Rehabilitation (Oxford Brookes University)

Applications for other courses and/or from other providers will also be considered.

Development / study grant criteria

Applications are welcome from health and social care professionals who:

want to attend education and / or training which is MS-specific
can demonstrate that they will acquire new skills and /or knowledge that will have a positive impact upon people affected by MS
can demonstrate that they have attempted to obtain funding from at least one other source
have obtained partial funding for a course or who are able to cover their own transport /accommodation costs
are members of the MS Society's Professional Network, or are willing to join
who have limited access to training opportunities
live in remote and rural areas

If the application is for a course that will have recurring fees (e.g. university course), please let us know as priority is otherwise given to people who have not received a grant in the last 2 years.

Purpose of Criteria

To prioritise grant spending so that people affected by MS receive the maximum benefit and best evidence-based care and support
To encourage those working with people affected by MS to develop a special interest in MS
To ensure that the money available is allocated fairly and benefits as many people as possible

What's next?

If your application is successful, the MS Society will send you a cheque made payable to the course provider. If it only covers part of the course fee, the university will invoice the balance from you or another source as appropriate.
